Il Necronomicon il libro dei nomi dei morti , è un grimorio da sempre avvolto nel mistero.
Si pensa sia un libro mai scritto ma citato nei racconti di Howard Phillips Lovecraft come se fosse vero.
Secondo Lovecraft , il Necronomicon o Al Azif scritto intorno al VIII secolo da Abdul Alhazred , è un antico grimorio occulto di magia, il quale fu fatta una traduzione in greco e la versione latina fu stampata due volte. John Dee e Edward Kelley entrarono in possesso di una copia del Necronomicon e si ritiene che ne abbiano fatto a loro volta una traduzione in inglese, della quale rimangono solo alcuni frammenti.
Diverse sono le ipotesi su quali fonti abbiano ispirato Lovecraft, si pensa a testi come la Chiave di Salomone ed il Picatrix, ma tanti sono i pareri contrastanti.
Intorno alla metà del 1900 il Necronomicon inizio ad essere punto d'interesse e di ricerca , ci furono diversi riferimenti a questo testo e tanti fecero passare vecchi testi falsi per il tanto ambito grimorio occulto.
C'è chi sostiene che il Necronomicon sia un testo realmente esistito magari in diverse forme e non sia del tutto un'invenzione letteraria di Lovecraft. Lo stesso si crede abbia davvero preso riferimento e informazioni da reali altri testi e personaggi occulti.

The Necronomicon, the book of the names of the dead, is a grimoire that has always been shrouded in mystery.
It is thought to be a book never written but cited in the stories of Howard Phillips Lovecraft as if it were true.
According to Lovecraft, the Necronomicon or Al Azif written around the eighth century by Abdul Alhazred, is an ancient occult grimoire of magic, which was translated into Greek and the Latin version was printed twice. John Dee and Edward Kelley came into possession of a copy of the Necronomicon and are believed to have made an English translation of them, of which only a few fragments remain.
There are different hypotheses about which sources inspired Lovecraft, we think of texts like the Key of Solomon and the Picatrix, but there are many conflicting opinions.
Around the middle of the 1900s the Necronomicon began to be a point of interest and research, there were several references to this text and many made old false texts pass for the much sought-after occult grimoire.
There are those who maintain that the Necronomicon is a text that actually existed perhaps in different forms and is not entirely a literary invention by Lovecraft. The same is believed to have really taken reference and information from real other hidden texts and characters.
