Le ossa come molti altri strumenti naturali da sempre vengono utilizzati nella ritualistica.
In molte culture vengono usate anche come feticcio o luogo di passaggio per gli spiriti.

Diverse sono le pratiche che utilizzano le ossa come mezzo rituale e non solo per necromanti/negromanti, nella stregoneria e magia popolare il loro utilizzo è come mezzo per stabilire un contatto con lo spirito dell'animale e lavorare con esso.
Infatti è abbastanza comune creare dei monili con componenti animali di cui piume, ossa o pelli.

Alcune usanze nelle tribù nel mondo vedono utilizzati spesso denti (umani) a volte caduti usati come collane per rimanere collegati ad una parte del proprio essere e della propria spiritualità (l'usanza di conservare i denti da latte ad esempio in alcune culture è arrivata fino a noi oggi) e quelli di altri (e non solo alcune volte anche ossa e capelli) per acquisire le loro potenzialità, come indossando e portando con sé ossa animali si può acquisire gli attributi ed i poteri dell'animale a cui appartengono.

Alcuni di essi invece come veicoli di trasformazione, venivano usate ossa , capelli , piume o qualsiasi componente per rituali di trasmutazione e per cercare di essere impossessati dallo spirito del veicolo utilizzato.

Era usanza anche nelle diverse culture in America e canada utilizzare le ossa come forma rituale dai sciamani e guaritori delle tribù in veri e propri rituali di guarigione utilizzando componenti ossei oltre che nelle pratiche di trasmutazione. Presenti anche in Europa diversi utilizzi di ossa nella ritualistica o come forma divinatoria.

Ci sono invece molteplici tipi di divinazione con le ossa e la maggior parte praticata oggi viene eseguita in Africa e in Asia.
Uno di questi ad esempio sono le ossa oracolari , utilizzare le ossa o gusci di animali a volte incise per fare domande ed avere responsi.
Per la grande importanza data in Cina alcune ossa utilizzate per questo tipo di rituali furono dissotterrate ,tritate e utilizzate nella medicina tradizionale cinese.

Invece per quanto riguarda la necromanzia (gr. νεκρομαντεία; ma νεκρόμαντις accanto a νεκυόμαντις; lat. necromantīa). - È, come dice il nome, quella forma di divinazione che consiste nel consultare i morti.
Ma in senso proprio è così chiamata l'evocazione degli spiriti o anime dei trapassati. Di questa forma si hanno esempi nell'etnografia attuale di tutte le parti mondo e, nell'antichità, di ogni tempo e luogo.
La Necromanzia viene dall'età del medioevo identificata come una pratica totalmente negativa anche per via delle ossa sacrificali e associata anche ad evocazione di spiriti non benevoli e demoni.

Al giorno d'oggi in alcuni paesi è ancora parte del processo del lutto fare dei rituali e lavorare spiritualmente come omaggio sulle ossa dei propri cari , specialmente nelle culture asiatiche e in alcune parti dell'Africa.
In alcune parti del Canada e degli stati Uniti invece è legale possedere ossa umane (ovviamente se ottenute nella completa legalità e non frutto di furti) .

È quindi importante sottolineare l'importanza data fin dall'antichità del lavoro sulle ossa e il loro utilizzo che varia molto in base alle culture e tradizioni.

Bones like many other natural instruments have always been used in ritualistic.

It was also customary in different cultures in America and Canada to use bones as a ritual form by shamans and tribal healers in true healing rituals using bone components as well as transmutation practices. Also present in Europe are different uses of bones in ritualistic or divinatory form.

There are instead multiple types of divination with bones and the majority practiced today is performed in Africa and Asia.
One such example is the oracular bones, use the bones or shells of sometimes engraved animals to ask questions and have responses.
Due to the great importance given in China, some bones used for this type of ritual were unearthed, chopped and used in traditional Chinese medicine.

Instead with regard to necromancy (gr. Νεκρομαντεία; but νεκρόμαντις next to νεκυόμαντις; lat. Necromantīa). - It is, as the name implies, that form of divination which consists in consulting the dead.
But in the proper sense it is so called the evocation of the spirits or souls of the departed. There are examples of this form in the current ethnography of all parts of the world and, in antiquity, of every time and place.
Necromancy comes from the Middle Ages identified as a totally negative practice also because of the sacrificial bones and also associated with the evocation of non-benevolent spirits and demons.

Nowadays in some countries it is still part of the mourning process to perform rituals and work spiritually as a tribute to the bones of loved ones, especially in Asian cultures and parts of Africa.
In some parts of Canada and the United States instead it is legal to possess human bones (obviously if obtained in complete legality and not the result of theft).

It is therefore important to emphasize the importance given to the work on bones since ancient times and their use, which varies greatly according to cultures and traditions.
